The Group believes in working closely with the community both locally here in the UK and overseas.
Over the past two years we have supported many different projects both from a Company point of view and also as individuals
The Saltmine Trust & Dragononavo School
We have worked closely with the Saltmine Trust to raise funds to install central heating and hot water systems for an
orphanage in Bulgaria. The Dragononavo School, 40 miles from Sofia, is home to 110 children who would otherwise be
living on the streets. This was completed in 2005 and over the past six months 40 tons of aid has been shipped to
Bulgaria for distribution within the Saltmine network.
The Saltmine Trust & Lily of the Valley
In October 2005 we sent our marketing manager Guy Bellamy to South Africa for three months to work alongside the
Saltmine Trust at an aids hospice for children. Guy was responsible for putting in IT systems to the school to help both
teachers, carers and the children benefit from the internet and communications with other aids hospices around the world.
Further funds have been collected and will be donated in September this year.
Macmillan projects
Working closely with the AVA, Coffee Point was recently one of the main sponsors at the annual football Macmillan
event where over £ 25,000 was raised.
Other charitable projects:
Many of our staff carry out their own charitable work and raise significant amounts for their personal charities.
These include:
Guy Bellamy - Completed this years London marathon for Saltmine trust
Ben Cooper plus 12 from Coffee Point - Parachute jump for Cancer Research
Emma Poole - Abseiling for Kids in Need
Cyril Regis - Walking for the Heart Foundation
Our Employment vision
It has long been one of the Group's main objectives to employ local people from the community and to create
employment opportunities for disadvantaged groups. This policy is used actively when recruiting staff particularly on
the operations and technical teams.
A number of staff from ethnic minorities are employed and the Group actively encourages the employment of all colours
and religions. Every potential employee does however have to undergo strict security vetting before employment.
Considerable investment is put into new staff with full training programmes being organised as well as ongoing
appraisals and training to help further careers and improve the business as a whole.
Coffee Point operates the AVA's "Continuing Professional Development" scheme,
which recognises and rewards operators through on going training and development.
